Synopsis:	Illyana is Peter's little sister; a mutant, and consort to a devil.
Flashback (to Uncanny 160), where the X-Men rescue Illyana from Limbo. Belasco
catches hold of her, for what seems a few seconds to the X-Men, but which for her
was six years in Limbo. Belasco plans to use her as an instrument for his elder
gods, to take over the universe. Storm and Kitty from a different timeline have
become a sorceress and a warrior in Limbo, but they are unable to help Illyana as
Belasco takes part of her soul, corrupts it, and makes it into a Bloodstone,
inserting it into a pentagram amulet and giving it to her.
Storm takes Illyana to her sanctum and enters her mind, but finds the dark
part of her soul already too strong to be defeated.
Cat, whom Belasco has made truly cat-like, wants to kill Illyana, to prevent
him ever using her. But Storm decides to take her as an apprentice, to teach her
to fight Belasco. She shows her the oak tree she grew from an acorn she made as
the beginning of her sanctum, and teaches her to use her astral form, and see the
life-force in all things. She also sees the potential for evil in her own and in
Storm's souls. During the lesson, a year passes.
Cat attacks Storm and takes Illyana, promising her a way home.

disk and finds herself in another room, where Colossus's dead body hangs. S'ym
nabs her; Cat rescues her, takes her into Limbo's version of the Savage Land,
shows herself to be part animal, and starts training her to be a fighter. She and
Ororo argue about how best to defeat Belasco: steel or magic.
Three years pass. When Cat sees Magik is ready, they enter Belasco's citadel.
Cat kills the twisted Nightcrawler, takes Magik to Belasco's altar, and tries to
phase her back to earth. But Belasco catches them, makes Cat even more feline,
and takes Magik as his apprentice. She does not fight him, but makes the second
Bloodstone herself.
Ororo is forced to make plans to destroy Magik.

Synopsis:	Two years later, Magik is corrupted. She transmutes a pet into a
demon, and Cat kills and eats it. Cat tries to talk to her, but she blasts her
with a spell. Then she makes a "good" pentagram, as Ororo taught her, and tries
to make an acorn. But it explodes with corruption.
Ororo's astral form appears; she promises aid.
Magik realizes she can control the stepping discs. She ports her bed away,
which is crashed into by the New Mutants' Saab (see New Mutants 14), which
quickly disappears.
Magik moves in time and finds Ororo, in her prime, killing Belasco, and
becoming just like him. Belasco isn't really dead, since he rules Limbo, but
Ororo is now his servant, since she corrupted herself by trying to kill.
Magik returns to the present and finds Ororo fighting Belasco again. Cat
attacks Ororo; Magik fights and kills her.
Belasco wants Magik to help him form the third Bloodstone, from the dying
Ororo's corrupted soul.

Synopsis:	Magik stabs Ororo to death, rather than use her soul in a Bloodstone.
She ports away from Belasco, buries Ororo in her grove, and is attacked in turn
by Ororo's risen corpse, Colossus, her parents (who don't recognize her
full-grown), and demonized X-Men.
Belasco catches and tortures her; the dark side of her soul creates the third
Bloodstone, and he abandons her in a winter wilderness until she learns her
lesson. She takes shelter beside Ororo's oak, which is strong with her magic.
She tries again to make an acorn; again it bursts with corruption. The oak
crumbles to dust.
Magik creates a sword from her soul's essence. She interrupts Belasco planning
to attack Ka-Zar, burns his books, and becomes more demonic while he reverts to
human. She realizes this, and refuses to kill him, rejecting the bloodlust.
Belasco escapes, vowing vengeance.
Magik rules Limbo, but she chooses to return to earth. To the X-Men, no time
has passed (Uncanny X-Men 160), and they are surprised to find her grown. She
joins the New Mutants.
