Here, mutants are accepted, Magneto has replaced Xavier as leader of the X-Men, and Scott is off-planet. Maybe now he can be his own man. Alex learns that he leads the Six, based in Bannerman Castle on the Hudson; he and Lorna never happened (Jean Grey had been Ariel in the X-Men, and his girlfriend); he is married to Madelyn, and they have a son, Scotty. Storm is a vampire (by Dracula, cf. Uncanny X-Men 159); Warren has leather wings and breathes fire (by Apocalypse, cf. X-Factor 18); Hank is dumb, green and amphibian (by his own hand, cf. X-Factor 26); Bob can't control his powers (by Loki, cf. X-Factor 17). SHIELD has taken over the Statue of Liberty to announce they have rigged the Legacy virus to kill all superhumans. Scotty (with his nanny Elektra) happens to be visiting there; Made- lyne gets angry enough that she reverts to the Goblin Queen. The Six beats the Mandroids, and Alex fries the virus. Scotty knows Alex isn't from this universe. Note: SHIELD's files on the Six follow. Issue: Mutant X 2 Date: Nov-98 Story: No Way Out! He returns to consult Reed about his dimensional disloca- tion, but finds Moot controlling his mind, and the FF captive. He quickly frees the team and fells the villain. Reed examines him, finds nothing wrong, and things he's crazy. The Pack, feral versions of Logan, Creed, and Gib- ney, hunt them down and force Alex to help them find and open the Weapon X lab. The Six rally and fight the Pack; before they are all killed, Alpha Flight arrives and takes charge, and kicks them out of the country. Alex decides he belongs in this world, with this team. Maddie answers the lure of the underworld, while Alex and Scotty tour the castle and find goblins and woody tentacles trying to capture them. Maddie arrives and drives away the goblins, but she is now their queen, and Alex and Scotty are afraid. She is angry that he has drawn attention to the supernatural, which is very much feared in this world, Dr. Strange even being impris- oned. She kills him and Man-Spider too, be- cause he tried to stop her. Hank witnesses this; Warren threatens to kill his parents if he says anything; the Brute goes berserk on Warren; Maddie blames Hank for everything. Alex and the Six help the police arrest him for the mur- ders. Maddie and War- ren vie for top villain; she wins and is losing to her Goblin Queen persona. Next day, Man-Spider shows up in court ? the dead one was a clone. Alex sends Scotty home with Elektra; the court is attacked simultane- ously by the Hand and Bullseye. They are de- feated; Maddie and Warren have locked themselves in a room with Hank, and his intelligence has returned. He believes himself to be a murderer and wishes to be put to death. Demons attack Ororo's castle; she sends Forge to escape with Kitty and fights, but Maddie wins. Alex has fled cross-country with Scotty and Elektra. Elektra sees that Alex has changed for the better and Maddie for the worse. Bob comes to rescue Ororo; she tells him to warn Alex, but then succumbs to the Goblin Queen and forces Bob to, also. Alex is stopped on the road by demonized lo- cals, and Hank, whom Maddie resurrected, and who nabs Scotty. Elektra and Alex fight, and get him back, but now Maddie is mad, and she has the rest of the Six on her side. Issue: Mutant X 8 Date: May-99 Story: The Reign of the Queen! Alex takes Scotty and Elektra to the X- Mansion but finds only a robot version of Cerebro ? the X-Men are off-planet. Maddie attacks Trask in his hidden base in the Rockies and takes control of his Sentinels. Next she allies with Reed Richards, who shoots the rest of his own team. Then she hunts for Dr. Strange, to kill him. Alex leaves Scotty in Elektra's safekeeping, then goes to kill his wife. She dares him; he can't do it. She blasts him out the window and goes to find her son. Issue: Mutant X '99 Annual Date: May-99 Story: A World Gone Mad! Kelly has reinstated SHIELD; they go to Florida to find the nexus of all realities, which Dr. Strange is guarding. Maddie rules Manhattan from the Empire State Building, with the Fallen, Reed Richards, demons and Sentinels. Stingray and Yellowjacket (a woman, here), fish Alex out of the Hudson and take him to the ruined Avengers mansion ? Sentinels have attacked. The Hulk is cured in this world, so they call on Doc Samson and go to get Mad- die. They find Hank, instead, and Alex inter- rogates to find Maddie ? she is headed to Florida. Vendetta and Firestar are in town, rescuing people from Sentinels. Vendetta gets her help to attack the White House, and he exorcises the Goblin Queen from Kelly's mind. Maddie and her team attack Dr. Strange, who in this world is also Swamp Thing. Alex and his team arrive, and battle ensues. Alex gets Dr. Strange to teleport everyone else away, then destroys the nexus, even though it might have been a way for him to return to his own universe. Samson, Strange, Yellowjacket, and Stingray decide to form a team to replace the Avengers, and take the name the Defenders. Kelly resigns and names Reed Richards as the next president of the United States. Issue: Mutant X 9 Date: Jun-99 Story: Uncanny! (22 pages) Feature Characters: Havok, Bloodstorm, Brute, Ice-Man Regular Characters: Elektra, Scotty Guest Stars: Ben Grimm, Callisto and the Morlocks, Mole Man, Magneto Villains: Madelyne, the Fallen; Sentinels, Reed Richards Other Characters: Credits: Writer: Howard Mackie Pencils: Mike Miller Inks: Andrew Pepoy Letters: Chris Eliopoulos Colors: Gina Going Editor: Jason Liebig Editor-in-Chief: Bob Harras Synopsis: Reed Richards is president, but Maddie is still in charge. Elektra has Scotty in Westchester; she is alarmed when an extra-terrestrial craft ar- rives, but it's just the X-Men. Alex tries to get there; the Sentinels chase him, but Mole Man rescues him and takes him un- derground, where he, Callisto, the Morlocks and Ben Grimm have created a haven for the frightened Manhattanites. But when Ben takes Alex up to the surface, Maddie is waiting ? Callisto has betrayed him to keep her people safe. Ben and Alex fight and defeat Maddie's team, so she sends in her Sentinels. She turns on Callisto, burning her face, but Mole Man still loves her and arrives to her rescue Magneto arrives and destroys the Sentinels; Scotty has asked him to retrieve Alex. Issue: Mutant X 10 Date: Jul-99 Story: The X-Men Cometh! (22 pages) Feature Characters: Havok, Bloodstorm, Brute, Ice-Man Regular Characters: Guest Stars: Ben Grimm, Callisto and the Morlocks, Mole Man, The X-Men: Magneto, Polaris, Night- crawler, Quicksilver, Rogue, Mystique Villains: Madelyne, the Fallen; Nimrod Sentinels, Reed Richards Other Characters: Credits: Writer: Howard Mackie Pencils: Carey Nord Inks: Andrew Pepoy Letters: Chris Eliopoulos Colors: Gina Going Editor: Jason Liebig Editor-in-Chief: Bob Harras Synopsis: Magneto destroys the Sentinels, and Maddie and her team retreat. But Magneto is actually weak, and his daughter Polaris has been cov- ering for him. There is an explosion near the ruins of Yankee Stadium; it is a lure, and Magneto, Polaris, and Alex arrive to find Maddie giving her new Nimrod Sentinels the souls of demons. The X- Men arrive to help, and battle ensues. (Note: in this world, Rogue has obviously absorbed Colossus's power.) Issue: Mutant X 11 Date: Aug-99 Story: And a Child Shall Lead Them (22 pages) Feature Characters: Havok, Bloodstorm, Brute, Ice-Man Regular Characters: Elektra, Scotty; Cerebro Guest Stars: The X-Men: Magneto, Polaris, Nightcrawler, Quicksilver, Rogue, Mystique Villains: Madelyne, the Fallen, Reed Richards Other Characters: Credits: Writer: Howard Mackie Pencils: Carey Nord Inks: Andrew Pepoy Letters: Chris Eliopoulos Colors: Gina Going Editor: Jason Liebig Editor-in-Chief: Bob Harras Synopsis: Alex and the X-Men strategize in Westchester, and Scotty eavesdrops. Maddie has regrets; the Goblin Queen reas- serts her control of her. Ororo sneaks in and gets Scotty to go with her, despite Alex's pleas, but by the time they gets back to Maddie, he realizes his mistake. Maddie locks him in his room, but Hank brings him a candy bar, and he breaks Mad- die's mind control over him, Ororo and Bob. Warren, however, attacks Hank and tries to kill Scotty, but then Maddie arrives. She fells Warren, tells Scotty she loves him, and sends him away to Westchester with Hank. Issue: Mutant X 12 Date: Sep-99 Story: Once Upon a Time? (30 pages) Feature Characters: Havok, Bloodstorm, Brute, Ice-Man Regular Characters: Cerebro; Elektra, Scotty Guest Stars: Dr. Victor von Doom, Uatu, Deathbird of the Shi'ar, Skrull Empress R'igill, Namor; The X- Men: Magneto, Polaris, Nightcrawler, Quick- silver, Rogue, Mystique Villains: Madelyne, the Fallen, Reed Richards Other Characters: Credits: Editor: Jason Liebig Editor-in-Chief: Bob Harras Synopsis: The Goblin Queen is a separate, cosmos- endangering entity, which Maddie had merged with to save Scotty from the Inferno. Uatu watched as it killed the Phoenix force and Galactus and was defeated by the Celes- tials. The Goblin Queen blows the top off the Em- pire State Building, her headquarters, and the shadow is seen in Westchester. She has had the United States invade Canada and Mexico, and the UN, meeting in Paris, in desperation yields leadership to Dr. Doom, who starts World War III. Maddie reaches out to Scotty in his dreams, warning him of the Goblin Queen. The X-Men ready themselves to attack her; Alex kisses Elektra, and Scotty implants some- thing in his mind and calls him Dad. Doom's invasion fleet sustains heavy losses, but Magneto gets Namor to come the rescue. Alex directs Doom directly to Maddie; she sends Warren, Bob, and Ororo to attack, but only Warren has his heart in it. He kills Alex, again, but Scotty is inside his mind, and they quickly rescue Maddie from the Goblin Queen on the psi-plane. The demons have disappeared, as has Maddie. Magneto and Alex plan to rebuild, but hu- man-mutant relations have been severely strained. Alex tells everyone how he came to be in this universe. Note: 7 pages of epilogue follow, showing the alternate universe: Dracula killing Ororo, Man-Spider saving Gwen Stacy from the Green Goblin, the Fantastic Four battling Ga- lactus, Elektra guarding Scotty, the Black Queen making Rogue absorb Colossus's power, and various super-beings. Issue: Mutant X 13 Date: Sep-99 (note: maybe a misprint for October?) Story: The Hunger (23 pages) Feature Characters: Regular Characters: Guest Stars: Prof. Charles Xavier and his X-Men: Kitty Pryde, Colossus (Peter Rasputin), Night- crawler, Angel, Havok; Forge Villains: Bloodstorm Other Characters: Credits: Writer: Ben Raab Pencils: Mike Miller Inks: Saleem Crawford Letters: Chris Eliopoulos Colors: Gina Going Editor: Jason Liebig Editor-in-Chief: Bob Harras Synopsis: This is a flashback issue showing Bloodstorm's origin. Kitty leaves a note for Peter: she has gone to save Ororo, even if she has to kill her. Ororo is in her castle, fighting the blood hunger. She finds Forge, the inventor of anti-mutant de- vices, hung out as a sacrifice. While Kitty breaks in, killing other vampires, Ororo is try- ing to break out with Forge. They meet and fight, but Kitty is unable to kill her friend. Ororo mesmerizes and bites her, enslaving her. Colossus and Nightcrawler miss her. Issue: Mutant X 14 Date: Nov-99 Story: Homecoming! (22 pages) Feature Characters: Havok Regular Characters: Scotty Guest Stars: The Starjammers: Cyclops, Binary, Nova, the Silver Surfer, Lockheed; Gladiator; Uatu Villains: Skrulls, Kree Other Characters: Frank Credits: Writer: Howard Mackie Pencils: Cary Nord Inks: Andrew Pepoy Letters: Chris Eliopoulos Colors: Gina Going Editor: Jason Liebig Editor-in-Chief: Bob Harras Synopsis: Skrulls have been sent to Earth to capture Alex and Scotty, but the Starjammers intervene. Scott soon realizes it's his planet and his fam- ily, but he sneaks up on Alex, scaring him into fleeing. Kree have arrived, and Alex takes care of them, after being ridiculed by the local sheriff. The Starjammers catch up in time to help, but then Gladiator appears. (The whole universe has been threatened by the rebirth of the Gob- lin Queen.) Alex and Cyclops try to hold him off, but then Uatu intervenes, announcing that the Goblin Queen is gone. He places Scotty and Earth un- der his protection, breaking the rules.
